GNR are one of the most iconic and influential rock bands in Portugal. Founded in Porto in 1980, they quickly became a defining force thanks to their irreverent attitude and distinctive fusion of styles, blending rock and pop with punk and new wave influences. From the outset, their ironic, sharp and often biting lyrics captured public attention by reflecting Portuguese society with wit and intelligence.

Over more than four decades, Rui Reininho, Tóli César Machado, Jorge Romão and their bandmates have built a timeless catalogue filled with anthems that continue to resonate across generations, including Dunas, Efectivamente and Pronúncia do Norte. These songs became enduring classics of Portuguese music and helped the band maintain a loyal and constantly renewed fan base.

With landmark albums such as Rock in Rio Douro and Psicopátria, GNR stood out for their originality — both musically and lyrically — combining humour, social commentary and introspection in a way that remains unmistakably their own.

On stage, GNR have always been synonymous with performance. Rui Reininho’s unmistakable presence — marked by his enigmatic posture, deep voice and singular charisma — turns every concert into a unique experience. Having shared stages with major international artists, the band continues to captivate audiences with their energy, creativity and ability to reinvent themselves.
