Brazilian metal that conquered the world is coming to Rock in Rio Lisboa.
One of the most influential and celebrated metal bands of all time, Sepultura return to Portugal with over 20 million records sold, a legendary status and an unwavering global legacy. With an extraordinary connection to Portuguese fans, the band stands as a fundamental pillar in the history of heavy music, responsible for taking Brazilian metal to the world stage.
Formed in 1984, Sepultura began exploring death and thrash metal, quickly becoming an underground phenomenon with Morbid Visions/Bestial Devastation (1986). Their international rise accelerated with Schizophrenia (1987) and Beneath the Remains (1989), which showcased their technical precision and aggressive signature sound. This journey led to classics such as Arise (1991) and the groundbreaking Chaos A.D. (1993), where the band embraced Brazilian influences and reshaped the boundaries of the genre.
In 1996, they released Roots, a landmark album that surpasses 150 million Spotify streams and revolutionised metal through the incorporation of indigenous percussion, tribal rhythms and a raw aesthetic that redefined their sound. Their legacy continued with acclaimed albums including A-Lex (2009), Kairos (2011), The Mediator Between Head and Hands Must Be the Heart (2013), Machine Messiah (2017) and Quadra (2020), which debuted at #5 in Germany and has accumulated over 17 million streams.
With 15 studio albums and multiple gold and platinum certifications in the United States, France, Australia, Indonesia, Cyprus and Brazil, Sepultura have built an indelible legacy. Their English-language singles — known for their intensity and powerful social commentary — continue to resonate across generations.
In 2023, Sepultura announced their final farewell tour, celebrating more than 40 years of music, 14 gold records and an influence that spans continents. At Music Valley, they bring one last monumental chapter — a celebration of identity, innovation and the enduring force of metal.
