James headlines the Galp Stage on 22 June
The British band has been specially invited to perform at the 20th anniversary of Rock in Rio Lisbon.
With a long-standing relationship with Rock in Rio Lisbon and the Portuguese public, James will be headlining the Galp Stage on 22 June, on a day that has already been confirmed with Ivete Sangalo on the World Stage. After having performed at the festival in 2012, 2018 and at the 15th anniversary edition of Rock in Rio Lisbon in 2019, in the gardens of the Belém Tower, the James couldn't miss the celebratory edition that will take place in 2024 at Parque Tejo Lisboa. Fans can look forward to all-time hits such as "Sit Down", "Sometimes", "Laid" and "Born of Frustration", which everyone will sing with one voice on a day of partying that will last well into the night on the Galp Stage.
The Manchester band, formed in the early 1980s, marked 40 years of their career in 2023 and are still undoubtedly one of the bands most cherished by the Portuguese public. A reciprocal connection for Tim Booth's band (lead singer), especially for guitarist and violinist Saul Davies, who lives in Portugal, on the outskirts of Oporto, which promotes a regular presence in Portugal for the rest of the clan.
In celebration of their 40-year career, the Jameses released a new album last year. "Be Opened to the Wonderful" features the unreleased track "Love Make a Fool" and 20 songs reinterpreted with a 22-piece orchestra and an 8-piece gospel choir, an excellent excuse to remember all the band's greatest hits, especially from the 90s. Three decades later and with more than 25 million records sold, the James return to Portugal to take to the Galp Stage on 22 June with their usual energy and vitality.
The 10th edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa will take place on 15, 16, 22 and 23 June 2024 at the new Cidade do Rock in Parque Tejo Lisboa. Secure your place HERE because this edition promises lots of music, animation and entertainment!
