The Main Stage will grow to host a show that mixes video mapping, fireworks and lots of music
02.8.2024
Here comes a unique live show experience, with artistic direction from OCUBO, Pyrotechnic Designer Vítor Machado and Lightning Designer Terry Cook, designed to celebrate the festival's joy of being in Portugal for 20 years.
The immersive video mapping show will be projected on a World Stage with 100m2 of scenery and the addition of two large 8x6 metre LEDs to complement the scenery, telling the story of the festival's past and future editions with such vivid immersion that it will put the audience inside the show.
To achieve this result, we will be relying on the genius of the national artistic studio OCUBO, whose portfolio includes remarkable and daring projects realised for 35 countries. Through the integration of various technical and artistic means, using LED walls and stage boards, which will become an animated element, making use of their three-dimensionality, the video mapping will be projected over the entire World Stage, where light beams will be inserted, as well as in the area of the stage clearing, around the entire audience, in order to highlight the most exciting moments and fill the audience with colour.
The extension of these light effects, designed by British Lightning Designer Terry Cook, a consultant to RIR Lisboa since 2015, who has worked with artists such as The Rolling Stones, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC, Elton John, Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, will provide greater immersion, It will also be enhanced by special effects created with fog, biodegradable confetti and magnificent fireworks by the talented Vítor Machado, from Grupo Luso Pirotecnia, who was also responsible, for example, for the fireworks displays on the 25 de Abril Bridge in 2007 and 2009. The whole experience will be made even more exciting by the soundtrack composed of a medley of songs in different styles by the festival's most outstanding artists, which will serve as a unifying element for the whole show and bring all the emotions to the surface.
The story of the last 20 years of Rock in Rio Lisbon will be told every day during the interval between the last concert on the Main Stage, in this 5-minute sensory show. Through the personification of various fans of the festival, who have attended several editions and grown up with Rock in Rio Lisbon, they will tell, in a living comic strip, interwoven stories about the festival motivated by music, while showing the space, the most memorable moments and the objectives and values of RIR Lisbon.
The 10th edition of Rock in Rio Lisbon is set to take place on 15, 16, 22 and 23 June 2024, at the new venue in Parque Tejo Lisbon, to celebrate two decades of the festival's history in Portugal. Secure your place at this celebration now!
