Rema

Rema, one of the leading names of the new generation of Afrobeats, will make his debut at Rock in Rio Lisboa on June 28, following a rapid international rise that began in 2018 when a freestyle shared on social media went viral and led to him signing with Mavin Records. 

Born in Nigeria, he gained global recognition with tracks such as “Soundgasm” and especially “Calm Down”, whose remix with Selena Gomez became a worldwide phenomenon, reaching the Top 3 of the Billboard Hot 100 and surpassing one billion streams, making Rema the highest-charting African artist in the history of the Hot 100 to date. 

His debut album Rave & Roses established his signature afrorave sound, while his second album HEIS, released in 2024, earned him his first GRAMMY® nomination in the Best Global Music Album category. Rema has sold out iconic venues such as Madison Square Garden in New York and The O2 in London, headlined a major global tour, and was included in TIME’s list of the Top 100 emerging leaders. 

With collaborations alongside artists such as Gunna, Stormzy, Chris Brown, Skepta, 6LACK, Ice Spice and Ayra Starr, the Nigerian singer, songwriter and rapper stands today as one of the leading ambassadors of African music on the global stage.
