Shaggy joins Legends Day and completes the Palco Mundo line-up
Legends Day just got even more special. On 27 June, Shaggy takes the stage at the Palco Mundo of Rock in Rio Lisbon, joining Rod Stewart, Cyndi Lauper and 4 Non Blondes on a day designed to celebrate artists who have shaped decades, remain alive in popular culture and continue to unite generations through music.
With over 40 million albums sold worldwide, Shaggy is one of the most iconic figures in the history of reggae and dancehall. Raised between Jamaica and the United States, he won audiences with his unmistakable charisma, contagious energy and rare artistic longevity — becoming, to this day, the only dancehall artist to achieve a diamond record.
After establishing himself as an MC in New York’s dancehall scene, international success arrived with Oh Carolina, followed by a run of global hits that crossed generations. Over the course of his career, Shaggy has placed eight singles on the Billboard Hot 100, seven albums on the Billboard 200, and has become one of the three most-streamed reggae artists of all time on Spotify, alongside Bob Marley and Sean Paul.
More recently, he once again dominated digital platforms with the viral phenomenon Banana, in collaboration with Conkarah — a track that has surpassed 2 billion streams and generated millions of pieces of content across social media worldwide.
